One Of These Nights

Released: Jun 1975

"Journey of the Sorcerer" has to be the weirdest song title in the Eagles' entire catalog, but it is reflective of what they were reaching for with One of These Nights. The album is all about the band filtering country rock through the kind of dreamy atmospherics that were then all the rage in progressive rock and soul. In certain instances (the title track for example) country rock has been completely discarded for shimmering funk. Even Randy Meisner's "Take It to the Limit" -- which, had it been recorded just two years earlier, would've been drenched in twang -- possesses a spacey polish.
